Hey Rob,
I did some more testing today. Very tedious. Here is what I found.
File Transfer works both ways.
Remote Assistance works both ways.
Whiteboard works from XP Home to XP Prof only. Going from XP Prof to XP
Home has title " Untitled Whiteboard Not in a call."
Application Sharing works from XP Home to XP Prof only. Going from XP Prof
to XP Home has title "...Not in a call'
The "not in a call" message appears to be coming from NetMeeting! XP Prof
has NetMeeting installed. XP Home does not.
If I try to use NetMeeting to make a call from XP Prof to XP Home using the
Microsoft Internet Directory, I get a Messenger Service message: The
Microsoft Internet Directory service has been superseded by features now
provided with MSN Messenger. With a hyperlink "Open Messenger.." that opens
Messenger and I'm right back to the start.
I have not found a way to disable NetMeeting at this point.
I believe XP Prof and NetMeeting are aimed at businesses and not
individuals. On the other hand, Messenger is aimed at individuals. It looks
to me like NetMeeting is being replaced with Messenger, except for group
therapy.
At this point, I think this is an issue for Microsoft Support to resolve.
Can you confirm you are using XP Prof with NetMeeting?
