When I attempt to open a jpg file attachment in Outlook, I get
"application not found" error. If I save the file, I can open it with
no problem. What do I do?

I have had the same problem today. It occurred after I uninstalled Nero 7
Ultra software. No idea why!

Well, I have been waiting for a couple of days now with no response to
this. I can't believe that this is that much of a stumper for
everyone here or that no one else has had the problem. I only have
the problem in Outlook. Windows recognizes it when I open it outside
of Outlook.

I have started having a number of Outlook 2002 crashes. MS says I need to
update it yet the update site says I am up-to-date. This error is just the
latest. I can't even get the Windows Picture and Fax viewer to come up. Wish
I could help more.

Rick,

I got an answer to my question after I reworded it. Here it is:

Use Control Panel's Folder Options>File Types to verify the open
operation
in the file association.

I found that this did the trick. I selected the microsoft picture &
fax viewer, but whatever you have been using should work. I don't
know why this only affected Outlook, but you know Microsoft!!!
