Application font size is too large

Mike Lopez

As you can see anumber of people are having this issue.
Here is a rundown of my current situation.

Created a runtime build using my base system ( aaeon
pcm6890b connected directly toan NEC 10.4 digital display)
loaded win XP Pro. the runtime build was customized to
include all windows fonts and was created using both 96dpi
and 120 dpi font sizes(one build for each). Default
resolution for the desktop and my custom application is at
640x480. Drivers used were both vga safe drivers and
hardware specific CT69000 vga drivers. Monitor Drivers
tried were Default monitor, plug and play monitor and
digital flatpanel 640x480. Motherboard vga bios is set to
display at 640x480 18bit ttf( attemped other resolutions
with no success).

No matter what drivers I use, no matter how many fonts
installed or dpi settings,no matter what desktop
resolution or refresh rate I set, The appication content
is always too large and is extending beyond and is hidden
behind the border of the application window. I have
trouble believing it's our application because when I go
into the display setting in the control panel, the
advanced tab screen for the vga dirver seems to display
the same enlarged content. This happens in the display
settings on two different types of motherboards with two
distinctly different vga controllers. I know the drivers I
am using are correct for the the controllers.

Everything else in teh build works fine except for this,
which is a major issue!
By the way , it works fine on the same system with XP PRO.
So , anyone got any ideas besides installing fonts and
screwing with dpi settings?

Mike,

This is not a solution but might help you to narrow down the source of the
problem...
Have you tried to build a vampire image that gets pretty much all XPe
components into your build? If not, you may want to give it a try and run
your app on such runtime image. Then you may know for sure whether it is an
"embedded problem" or not.
Many thanks to Heidi, the vampire.slx project file can be found on
www.xpefiles.com under Development Utilities:Main section. You may need to
play with fonts, dpi settings and display drivers.

If you're going to use the vampire, go for the dated one, not the one
marked 'latest' - and there's a few components in there that will need
upgrading now, I'm going to be adding a new version later today.
Brad - would it be possible to rename that 'latest' one to a dated
file, or to delete it?

I tried the vampire build and it still didn't work. I'm at
the end of my rope. What's wiered is the exact same build
that i made using the evaluation software did not have
this problem. Still looking for an answer to this . If
anyone has any ideas....

Mike:

I couldn't find the rest of your posts but I had a similar problem (App font
too large). Most of the advice I got was to make sure that I included (as
components) whatever fonts the App used. I went to the App developer and he
said simply "MS SanSerrif". That font was included but didn't help.
Finally I included these two others and it worked:

Fonts:sserife_fon
Fonts:sseriff_fon

Hope this helps.
