application error

Tried this post in the general newsgroup but got no feedback so though
I'd give it a try here.

Using WinXP with SP2.

Quite frequently I get an popup message on my laptop saying
"Application Error - userInit.exe" - "The instruction at "0x7c901010"
reference memory at "0x052f273C". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program."

The application referred to changes from time to time. Also seen
msn_sl.exe and msfeed<something>.exe and Iexplorer.exe and a few
others.

It appears the "0x7c901010" address is always the same but the second
address changes from time to time.

Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic yesterday, using extended test and it
found no memory issues (ran for 12 hours).

Also have Windows defender and anti-virus installed on computer any
they have not reported anything.

Any ideas?

Try to uninstall the MSN toolbar (msn_sl.exe) then run Disk cleanup and
check disk.

Thanks for your reply.

Laptop has 2GM Ram and 3,35 GB free disk space.

The error message has also referred to msiexec.exe, wscript.exe,
userinit.exe, jucheck.exe, msfeedssync.exe, track32.exe, firefox.exe,
helpctr.exe.
Quite a number of application really and all application appear to
work fine even with the error message.
Here is the description found in event viewer for application error;

One thing I noticed when writing this post is that if I click Start ->
"Help and Support" [Helpctr.exe] and click for instance 'Find
compatible hardware and software'
and then close application I get the error message everytime. However,
If only open the application and then exit without clicking any links
I do not get the
error message. It appear to me like the application is connecting to a
remote site when click the link. Does this make any sense?
