Application error on start up

G

Guest

After the Windows screen loads I get the message:
service.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x7c918fea" referenced memory at "0X6b741014" The memory
could not be written.
cancel to debug
ok to terminate the program

when I try either option terminate or debug I just get a blue screen with
while welcome sign.

If I close the message I get a System Shutdown messages and it shuts down in
a minute.

Help appreciated. Thank you

Service.exe is not part of the operating system

It could be an innocuous file, Dell for example has a program using this
name, but it may be a virus.

It may be one of half a dozen known worm's that create a file with this name

Visit this site and search on service.exe to see what I mean
http://search.symantec.com/custom/us/query.html

I would be doing a full cleanup of the system
