Applet Issue with IE6

My wife has a medical record program she is running at
home. It woorked fine on our old computer, but does not
run properly on our new Dell that runs IE6 and XP Home
Edition. The program doesnot prodiuse the drop down
menus it should using function keys. The error message
displayed is as follows:

Applet RSAspProxyApplet notinited

Her IT goup has instructed us to deselect the "use Java
2" and recommend selecting "JIT compliler" instead. I
cannot find any reference to a JIT complier in either IE6
or in XP. Any suggestions?
