appcompat.txt error help

Guest

Recently when I use my IE6 Browser and I access a pull down menu ( for month,
day , or year or any pull down) I get the following message:

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: user32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2622 Offset: 000529a6

MSN 9 tech support can not help and refers me to my computer manufactuer but
its for IE6 and IE6 is part of Microsoft and MSN. Any help in resolving this
error message would be appreciated.

Hi Steve :)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, which really is a
must when asking for help in the newsgroups, but, try the following and see
if it helps:

FIrst, clearing the Temporary Internet Cache -
Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

then.......

Go to Start>Run>type the following in the window one at a time, hitting
enter after each one.

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

You should see a confirmation message after each one saying is has
registered successfully. . Click ok after each message and then enter the
next command

If this does not resolve the problem post back here with any error messages
and details.

Hope this helps.
