Apache in Intranet

This seems an appallingly stupid question; however, I am stuck. How do
I use my browser on Machine B to hookup to Machine A that is serving
Apache, etc., via Xampp ( Friends of Apache ), which, I will add, is
running. Don't I type in http://192.168.0.1, the address of my machine
on local intranet? This is how I locate and interact with my router?
Do I need to have DHCP running from Machine A server?
Cannot I use fixed addresses?

Thank you Kurt.
As I have tried that I can eliminate that. I even tried variations on
the ports,e.g., 8080,80. It works fine on loopback http://127.0.0.1. It
must be something else that I am confused about in the setting up of the
server -- linking it to correct http address. I am running Apache on the
same Machine as my Internet Connection Forwarding NIC and have probably
inadvertently confused default settings. I am probably using the
incorrect address. I guess that I will search across the assigned
addresses and see what happens -- then go read some more, sketch out my
layout and post again with question or answer. Thanks again.

Kurt, et. al.,
Regarding http to local Intranet. Never did understand why it was not
working, but, yes, http://192.168.0.1 works, etc. Apache picks it up as
signal comes in at port 80. All the Apache servers are working
regardless of OS now. Thanks for the words of advice. Moved Xampp to
another W2K box on subnet of Intranet -- for safety reasons, in part,
and because I felt that that was the issue.
