Anyone come accross a failed NIS2006 that destroys ALL file associations?

Happend to me twice now.
If it wasn't for system restore. I would have been screwed!
When NIS told me it had an error installing and was
reversing the process,... it did no such thing. Damn thing
never would install, and there was nothing wrong with this
machine to begin with. No errors, slow downs of any kind.
No adware/spyware/rootkits... nothing.

Just make double sure you set a restore point before
installing any Symantec bloatware product.

A friend of mine brought me a laptop to help him fix on which he had
just attempted to install NIS and NSW.

All file associations were gone.
