Any way to disable Active Desktop in XP?

Trying to install VIVO Player and it says it can not install because
Active Desktop is running. From what I can find out it is "always on"
in XP. Is there any way to disable it and is it advisable to do so?
Thanks, DD

Use Technet!!

RESOLUTIO
Click Start, and then click Run
In the Open: box, type: gpedit.msc, and then click OK
Locate the policy settings in the User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Desktop\Active Desktop folder
Right-click Enable/Disable Active Desktop, and then click Properties
Click Enabled, and then click OK

I suggest turing Active Desktop back on after the installation is complet

Guess I should have mentioned that i am using XP Home,
those intructions apply to XP Professional.
XP Home (or Personal, if you prefer) doesn't recognize the gpedit
command.
Thanks anyway
