Any thoughts gone into updating the Defrag tool?

It hasn't had an update since first release.

It has grown issue dealing with drives larger then 60gig.

It has almost no ability to clear "slack space" with out telling the tool to
redo the defrag of the drive at least 2 addtional times.

It has issues defraging the OS sectors and files.

I've tried a couple third party tools. Does all of the above on
the first time through. Never need to tell it to redo the defrag
right after getting done.

My suggestion - use the third party tools if you feel they do a better job
in your situation.

After all - the one built into XP is (actually) just a crippled version of
(likely) one of the ones you tried.

switchin to one of the commercial defragmenters is worth it if you dont
want to bother about the job manually and also ensure a fast and
thorough defrag. Especially for office enviroment best to rely upon
third party tools.

Manually vs. Automatic should really have nothing to do with it.
You can schedule it to run easily enough.

I gave up on windows defrag tool as I have 2 300GB HDD. I now use Diskkeeper
10 Pro Premier. It works great and works automatically once set up.
