any program that reports how defragmented your drive is?

There have been numerous threads here about freeware defragmenting
program.
I am wondering whether any of them (or any others) will first report
as to the current level of defragmentation and whether defragging is
recommended.
FWIW I have a Windows 98SE machine.

sorry...misread...crackup reports whtjer you need defragging ,but doesnt
perform the defrag itself.

Actually that would be OK. I could use other defraggers to do the
job.

I used " Crackup" on my Win98 ... you can get it from...

... no install , just put it where you want and run it.

When I attempt to download crackup.zip I get the pop-up telling me to
subscribe to PC Magazine.
Does this then really qualify as freeware.
I can't locate anywhere else to find a free download of crackup.

Crackup worked fine for years in W95, but since W98SE, it scans my
partitions but always shows 0 % defrag. Yet when I run Windows Defrag,

One of my clients had never defragged her hard drive in over 900 days
of usage and the fragmentation was palpable. Diskeeper Lite defragged
it *in under an hour* in window's *normal* mode!

W98 or ME defrag never locks up for me. A 12 MB install is no interest
to me.

yeah its built into windows go to;

start > programs > accessories > system tools > disk defragmentor

before you run the defrag you should click the "analyse" button and it will
give you a visual representation and you can also get a report on it

What flavor of windows are you running? Win2k or XP?
Win98FE/SE/ME has no such "analyze" button to my knowledge.
