Any advantage/disadvantage in having TWO AV programs

I just recently got a new DELL system. It came with Mcafee. I get that free
for 90 days. I also d/l AVG. I'm thinking of keeping both programs active. I
figure there could be a virus that one finds and the other one doesn't.

Also, in 90 days, unless McAfee proves superior, I'll let that one go and
stick with the free AVG one.

Is there any problem brewing if I keep 2 AV programs active?

They can create conflicts, and it is not generally recommended.

If they are run in an active scan mode. Nothing wrong with having two
AV's and utilizing the 2nd (in an inactive mode) to perform a scan
manually.

Absolutely, and in fact most people recommend having more
than one, great for second opinion scans.
