AntiVirus

Heya Guys, I guess alot of us with Trend Micro antivirus are thinking about
this but what are we to do for antivirus, starting the first of the year. my
subscription is up then. Mcfee sucks, Norton is only offering 30day trial of
theyre beta??? Why?? Symantec needs some help when offering beta stuff. If
Microsoft did that we'd all get 30 days of vista then we'd be forced to go
back, or buy a product not yet avail. dont get it. Y doesnt Microsoft come
out with Vista x64 support for One care???

What seems to be at issue?
Try Avast.
Avast works great; it's free and from their site itself:
"We are glad to announce that the latest versions of all avast! antivirus
editions, including the free Home Edition, now support the new Windows Vista
platform (both 32-bit and 64-bit builds). "

Never had one single issue with it; and trust me; tried all of em, including
all the beta's ;of all those companys you mention. Plus more.

If you "never had one single issue with it" then probaly it is crap!!
How do you know that it catches all known viruses known to mankind? Have
you tried any other free versions e.g. AVG?

can ya read?
I didn't say it didn't catch stuff.
first off ;nothing catches everything-100% of the time, if it did, viruses
wouldnt be out there still;
and avast has caught stuff that other's didn't;
and yes, have used avg too.
and nod32
and symantec
and mcafee
and trend
and ca
and
and and and

so b4 ya yap-get things straight

You know, you're perfect proof of why it is a good idea to keep your mouth
shut and let people wonder if you're an idiot rather than open your mouth
and remove all doubt.

You have apparently defined an absence of problems with something as a sign
of poor quality. I'm guessing you're a programmer or possibly a quality
control supervisor for Symantec?

Where did he claim that it did? I'm wondering if you're constructing a
strawman arguement on purpose or if you're just drunk at the keyboard now.

I can't remember whether Mark Twain's writing is within the public domain or
not. If not, Samuel Clemens deserves attribution ;)

Ive heard alot about Avast, but im kinda scared of it missing something. I
had AVG and if you want Crap-o-la get it. It is slow and doesnt catch
everything and the realtime protection doesnt exist.

Im pretty Smart with computers but I even need help sometimes. Thats why im
here.

Well,

Ya asked,
and responses were favorable for Avast, not to mention their numerous
awards; which you can see for yourself, here:
http://avast.com/eng/awards.html
If you're so concerned; you should research it yourself;
if it was me; I'de be looking at all of them.
Which I have.
So, have fun with whatever ya decide;
Good luck

Mea Culpa, I never could remember _who_ said that one.

I'm running AVAST here and I'm quite happy with it. It's free software and
there are some tools out there that are better if you want to pay, but it is
still quite a decent package.

Avast is a good anti virus application and so too is AVG. I've used both on
various builds of Vista. Currently, however, i am using the Onecare beta
which seems to be working well.
