Antivirus Gold

Mike Garland

My home screen seems to have been hijacked by Antivirus
Gold. I can't move it or remove it and, because it covers
a number of my desktop icons, I have difficulty accessing
some of them. I've run Trend, MS Antispyware Beta, Ad-
Aware and Spybot (all latest versions) in Safe mode but
without success. Any ideas? I'm not a technie, so a
simple solution would be preferred.

Hi Mike:

In addition to the excellent advice from Plun I suggest
you download CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com to
clean out all the hidden temp files areas. It's very
simple to use and very through.
On the "Issues Tab" you may want to uncheck "Unused File
Extensions" however...

Hope this also helps and regARDS,

RobbieA

Hi Mikolaj
If a user knows what he is doing this is not a problem to follow this
guide.
But the challenge is if it is linked with Smitfraud and
others.............. :'(

So if Mike (he wrote "I'm not a technie" ] believe that he knows what he
is doing he can follow it otherwise
a forum is better I believe ^^

Hi plun

Did you read the guide to the end? ;-) If so, you could find such
information and proper links :)

Important Note:

This infection tends to be linked, or installed, with 3 other infections.
It is advised that you click on each of the following links to determine if
there are any further malware that needs to be removed.
