AntiSpyware won't start

I just down loaded the MS AntiSpyware, it installed jsut
fine but when I try to open the program nothing happens.
I can't set anything. What do I do?

Have you rebooted the machine after your install? What OS are you using? I
have successfully installed on Windows 2003 and Windows XP (sp2) without any
problems.

I have rebooted several times, I have removed and
reinstalled the software several times, I am running XP
Pro (sp1).

I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM...I am using XP Pro
SP2...tried downloading from different sites and
installing to no avail...keep getting same error
message :

"Warning, Microsoft AntiSpyWare has encounterrd a
critical error (Error 102). Please restart Microsfot
AntiSpyWare again. If you continue to expereince this
problem, please contact microsoft technicla support at
(e-mail address removed) for immediate assistacne."

Any ideas as to what I should do???

The stock advice in these situations is to
1) make certain you are installing as an administrator on your machine.
2) try the control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft Antispyware,
change, update procedure.
3) if this fails, try uninstalling and reinstalling.
4) Some have reported success by choosing a non-standard install
directory--say, c:\msas as an example.

(others report that none of this works!)
I know each of you in this thread has tried some combo of these, but these
are the home remedies that I'm aware of.

I just install the antispy on some computers (XP with SP2).
On a few it has the same problem, there is no problem with
installation. But i can't open it, it just appears on the
taskbar.

Some folks have reported that they were able to start the program normally
in safe mode, and that fix carried over to subsequent starts in normal mode.
