Anti-Spam software - please help

N

Neil Hindry

I am looking for anti-spam software. I want it to check my email for spam
before I download it to my email client ( i.e. Outlook, Outlook Express,
Eudora etc). I also want it to be able to work with multiple accounts.

Does anyone know of any free anti-spam software that is good and meets my
criteria above?
For information I use Windows XP Pro.

I hope you can help me.

I appreciate any help of information given.

Thanks.

Hi
Does anyone know of any free anti-spam software that is good and meets my

I personally use Spamihilator (http://www.spamihilator.com) and i'm
verry happy with it.

For Outlook (Express) eventually Spamfighter
(http://www.spamfighter.com/Product_Info.asp), but I don't no if it's
really free?!? "SPAMfighter Standard is 100% free for private use"

But you can also use a mailclient that gives you the opportunity to
delete mails directly from the mail server, such as Foxmail or Dreammail.

Thinking of changing from ChoiseMail to either K9 or Spamihilator.
Would like opinions from people that have used these two programmes,
to which is the best, and the reason you prefer one over the other?

Hi John,

I think you have to test both of them. As i'm only using Spamihilator, I
can only tell why i would prefer it:

1. you can automatically configure the must usual mail clients with the
installation of Spamihilator
2. you can delete mails directly from mail server
3. more functions i think
4. many plugins
5. white/black lists with the possibilty to use "jokers"

to 2.:
with the right settings (dangerous!) you can delete blacklisted mails
directly from server without downloading them first!

to 5.
you can use jokers in the black or white list, e.g.
*@mail.com -> whole domain mail.com in black or white list
*@*.mail.com -> all subdomains of mail.com in black or white liste
? = one letter of a mail adress/domain

Hope this helps you in your decision!

Have any of you had a chance to write a review on any of these pieces
of software? Definitely would be a worth while read for a few visitors.

Presorium Frontgate MX at http://www.presorium.com is also very good.
Allows you to view only headers, checks with spam lists, and removes
rejected mail from the server. I've used it for quite a while.

you have to play with the settings, so you're pleased with the program!

Good luck and no spam!!!

I used it former times but it will not be further developed!

Marco,

Just a side question? Is there a English version of Dreammail?

You might contact your ISP and ask them to use antispam software;
then all you have to do is telnet to your mailserver account and check
that all spam has been captured and moved to a spam file which you can
delete yourself. (My isp uses spam assassin - I don't know if SA is
freeware.) HTH, He2

Hi Jeremy,

I think it's a chinese installer, but you can put it afterwards to
english!

Look at the following screenshot:
http://bfff.bf.ohost.de/dreammail.gif

Now you can see the screenshot, sorry!

Marco

Thanks for the link to this program! :)

Easy to use and fun in English.. Finally found the Template editor so I
will be able to change the Html and text templates to some thing that
does not top post and looks so chinglish weird.

My only problem with Foxmail at the moment is it's lack of English help
screens.. There is a lot of German/Chinese forum space on the web but
no English help.
