anti-aliasing

Hello Experts,
I am trying to display images that were given to me for use in my web page
after setting a transparent color but end up with fuzzy, jagged displays. I
have come to the conclusion (right or wrong I don't know) that it has to do
with the fact that I have not anti-aliased these images, therefore
transparency is doing the best it can with the uneven pixel borders it has.
Irfanview was recommended to me as an image editor but I was surprised that
it doesn't seem to have anti-alias capabilities. Any suggestions?

Actually, the fuzziness you are seeing is probably due to the presence of
the anti-aliasing, rather than the absence of it. But if all you have are
the processed images, you are probably a dead duck, as you would need to go
back to the source file for these images to make such changes.

Can you show me one or two of these images?
