Antec PS Fan Speed

I have an Antec TruePower 430 power supply. Is there any way to manually
increase the speed of its fans? They're thermally controlled by default,
and seem to be biased for low RPMs to minimize noise. However, my system
temperatures have risen since installing it and I'm wondering if faster RPMs
would help. Thanks in advance.

There's no documented way to do it that I'm aware of. Instead you could add
a fan to another part of your case (if airflow is definitely the problem).

Yes. I'm working on that solution, I just thought it would be simpler to
try increasing the PS fanspeed first.

It seems to be. The system temps increased by about ten degrees with the
addition of the new PS, which is the only change I made to the system. My
previous PS had no bottom fan so I assume that the airflow has changed
within the case. Although this seems to be a common problem with these
power supplies anyway.

A pot soldered across the fan control thermistor will do the job.

This psu controls your fan, if you've connected it to a fan-only
connector. According to the manual, you can connect the fan to a
"regular 4-pin peripheral connector", if you don't want the psu to
control the fan. I've done this and the fan does speed up. It's
slightly more noise, but does appear to help my system run cooler.

Does anyone know if it's ok to mount this psu with the fan pointing up?
That would eliminate the warm psu air blowing directly towards the cpu
assembly. With my Antec Super Lanboy case, there's not a lot of room
(maybe 1/4 inch) between the top of the psu and the case top. I'm not
sure if this would cause the psu to over-heat.

It seems that the "quiet" trend in power supplies comes at the cost of
higher case temperatures. I never thought fan noise was an issue anyway -
just white noise, like an air conditioner (which, for a lot of us, is
synonymous with Summer anyway).

That's an excellent question. I would think, however, that you'll need
another fan for heat exhaust since you'll lose one by inverting the PSU.
