Another Compatability Issue

I'm running Win XP Pro with Office 2003. The access database is in the
2002-2003 format and I'm creating an .mde.

My users are all using Win XP Pro with Office 2002. When they try to
execute the .mde they get the following message...am I doing something wrong?

"The database is in an unrecognized format. The database may have been
created with a later version of Microsoft Access than the one you are using.
Upgrade your version of Microsoft Access to the current one, then open the
database"

Like I said the database is in the 2002-2003 format, so why can't Office
2002 users open it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

An .mde file can only be used by the same version of ACCESS that created it.
As you created the .mde with ACCESS 2003, your users will need 2003 to use
it.

Because your users are using ACCESS 2002, you must create the .mde file in
2002 version.

The "2002-2003" format that you reference has to do with the table
structure -- ACCESS 2000, 2002, and 2003 all use the "2000" version of
ACCESS table structure.

Or newer. An A2000 MDE can be used by A2002 or A2003 users.
