another administrator password problem

J

i am the administrator of my computer. i have let my
roommates have accounts. one of my roommates is leaving
and not on very good terms. i have erased his account,
and to prevent him from using my computer have changed my
password several times in the last week.

the other night i changed it very late at night, and must
have forgotten what my password is, because i CANNOT
remember it. of course, like a fool, i didn't make a
password reset disk. GAH!

is there anyway to reset the password with out re-
installing XP?

if i DO re-install it, does that erase my hard drive? i
am pretty computer literate, but i don't know about that
particular issue (erasing when re-installing an operating
system).

If any of your other roomates have Administrator rights
on their account, you can log in as one of them and go
into User Accounts to change the password. Is your
account the actual Administrator account built-in to the
Operating System? As for re-installing Windows, this
will Erase all the data on your hard drive in order to
make room for a fresh installation, so all your data,
programs, documents etc will be lost unless you can back
it up.
