Animated Gif's

After installing the updates and service packs for Office 2000 I am no longer
able to click on and Save As .... Gifs that come in my emails. The only
choice now given is for *bmp .. Previously I was given a choice to Save As
*gif or *bmp .. Can you tell me what was installed in the service
packs/updates that has blocked this and how can I fix it ... thank you.

That hs been "broken" for a long time. Did it really work for you before? I
thought it only worked in OE and never in Outlook. Anyway I've created a
guide with a workaround for this;

On occasion I receive emails with animated .gifs in them. I use Outlook 2003
with Word as my editor and prior to this version was able to safe the .gifs
for other use. I have a HUGE folder in my Outlook marked as "Saved animated
emails" for the sole purpose of TRYING to find a way to pull the .gifs off
the email and then delete them. I have searched forums here but wasn't lucky
enough to find this thread until just now.

I am THRILLED that the workaround has worked for previous posters and will
give it a try tomorrow when I'm more 'fresh'. I have never, ever used Macros
or written one so that alone is making me stall on doing this. But knowing
that this Macro WILL WORK and I can get rid of the tons of emails I have been
saving only for the .gifs far overrides the scary feeling I have about the
Macro.

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU! I was very close to deleting the folder
and never, ever considering saving the .gifs that I do use for other things.

I will let you know how I make out and also I may have some questions on the
Macro if I get stuck - hopefully not!

GREAT JOB, MACRO WRITER! :)

Don't upgrade to Outlook 2007, then, because GIF animation has been removed
from that version.

Hi Brian -

Thanks for the Info on 2007 but not to worry - I'm done with PCs when my
current 3 and laptop die off.

Have a great upcoming weekend!
