Animated GIF is not working, help desperately needed!

I had to do an assignment which required me to make an animated GIF. I
created the animation in another program, saved it in the GIF format, and now
I am supposed to put the GIF in a PPT presentation in order to turn it in
online. Although my animation is recognized and works as such in other
programs, PowerPoint only shows a still picture, not the animation. I have
even tried to put the animation in a few movie making programs, saving it as
different types of movie files and then playing it that way, but when I try
and play that movie file in Powerpoint 2003, I only get a black screen, not
the animation. I need to turn this in soon, and I've tried everything I can
think of over the past few days, so if anyone has any ideas, I would really
appreciate the input. Thank you!

Hi Jaimie

You are checking the gif in presentation view, aren't you? It will look like
a still picture in edit view....

As for the black screen when inserting a movie, that is probably related to
the length of the filepath - try moving ppt & movie file to something like
C:\Test then re-inserting movie. Remember you would need to send the ppt and
the movie file as movie files do not embed.

Try using Insert | Picture. I know that sounds odd, but PPT does consider an
animated GIF a picture. And then what Lucy said -- it won't animate in
Normal editing View.
