Americas Army issue.

I've recently started getting this annoying problem.

I'll first tell you my specs, and all hardware drivers are up-to-date:

Dell Dimension 4600
XP Home SP2
P4 2.66ghz 533fsb
X800XT Cats 5.1
Audigy 2ZS
1gb DDR400 running at 333.
BT Broadband 576kbps Latest drivers I could get from BT.

Basically from 2.2 onward of Americas Army.

Scenario1. I boot the game --> log in to play --> quick game --> disconnect
from server --> quit the game --> START --> click shut down --> windows
freezes on saving your settings.

Scenario2. Same as above --> instead of click shut down --> right click the
BT Broadband icon in my sys tray --> disconnect --> Taskbar freezes -->
(cannot click START) ctrl - alt - del --> shut down --> connection tray not
responding --> end that --> windows freezes on saving your settings.

Scenario3. Dont try shutting down or disconnect my broadband --> instead try
START --> Run --> ipconfig /flushdns --> then either or both of the above -->
windows freezes on saving your settings.

All out of ideas, I tried drivers and patched the game as recommended by
AAO, but no luck.

Regards

All other internet activity is fine accept AAO.

Hi DAZ,

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and see if anything is "Not Responding"
in the application list.

I have tried ctrl+alt+del as in scenario 2. I cant understand it, if I dont
touch anything after playing AAO and just hit ctrl+alt+del all processes are
fine. I can even surf the net and stuff with no problems.

But once I try to disconnect my broadband using the system tray icon, the
taskbar freezes (including start) and eventually I get BT Broadband not
responding, if I ctrl+alt+del and end task windows freezes on saving your
settings when I shut down, and I have to shut down cause all my icons
dissapear from the system tray.

It's like something is waiting for me to either shut down or disconnect my
Broadband - I then get the usual problems which eventually lead to windows
freezing on saving your settings.

Things I have tried:

Drivers
ipconfig /flushdns
Firewall settings inc Wins firewall for AAO and Gamespy

I can only think either bad programming or punkbuster?

I play AA0 on broadband - but not thru BT.

AAO does use alot of memory - my machine (AMD64 3000+ 1Gb RAM) freezes for
about 30seconds after exiting AAO

Do you have firewall AV or spyware software running

Hi Daz,

Run a virus scan at: http://housecall.antivirus.com Afterwards
Download & Run Spybot from: http://security.kolla.de to find any
Trojans, Adware, or Spyware which could clog up your system.
