AMD Athlon 64 and Windows XP 64-bit?

Can Windows XP 64 bit run on the new AMD Athlon 64 bit
processor? When will OEM companies be able to purchase
Windows XP 64-bit OSs through authorized resellers to
bundle with their systems?

There will a 64 bit version of Windows XP released for AMD architecture.
OEM's can already access the pre-release version through MSDN.

No, only on the Intel Itanium. An AMD 64-bit version is expected
soon.

The present Windows XP 64-but Edition Version 2003 is for use only
with the Intel Itanium II processor.

When we finish and release an AMD64 version of the OS.
I am not a liberty to discuss any possible time frames for such a
product.

Hi Mike,

Could you suggest to the group that manages the WinUpdate site that
they need to put up an explaination about 32bit and 64bit? We are getting
to many post in here asking if they have 32 or 64.
