AMD 64 and XP SP2 causes system not to boot

I use an AMD Athlon 64 CPU based laptop and XP SP2 has caused it to
longer boot. Why is Microsoft releasing such a problematic Service Pack
release that is causing lots of problems. I guess Microsoft just does not
care about what affects it has on its users as long as they collect more
money for support.

Now I have two XP systems that will no longer boot. I tried to avoid SP2
on the other system, but it automatically downloaded and installed.
I guess Microsoft has full control over all XP computers where we cannot
decide for ourselves whether to install SP2 and other programs and updates.

Wow!
I'm going start praying to the MS god and maybe they can
start up my computers while I'm making coffe in the
morning.

Didn't know MS could do that?

Only if you give them permission too ... its a setting that could be changed
to disallow the auto-downloads ....

I am an AMD64 system and having been running XP SP2 for about a week now
with no problems at all. If you provide more detail, someone might be able
to assist you.

Is your PC blue screening?
Is there an error of any type?
If there is an error, what is it?

Yes, and a half dozen mouse clicks, too. :)
I feel for all that have problems but it's their own ego
and arroangance that gets in their way.

Ask one question.

What do I do first to prepare for SP2?

There must be 200 posts here with a six or eight links to
do things before and after.
The world is bigger than most Americas even learn to
comprehend. ;) So of course the world revolves around
each one of them. lol

OH well, can stop a train by yellin'n at it. :)

Olypics time.
I wonder if the men in 100 m hurdlers were up two nights
ago installing SP2. Now there was some arroagent ego
displays if ever.
Running with gold chains and sun glasses. yesh! My coacj
would have killed me.
And what's with slack off at the fishish line with
runners. Yimminie!

Maybe it the HEAT?

Good thing your OS can't kill you. lol

System would not boot. After another system restore and
install SP2, the system loads with XP SP2. This time I
uninstall Norton AntiVirus 2004 version and some other pre-
installed program that I do not use (MS Money 2004, MS
Works 2004, Learn2Player -- something like that).

Automatic Updates defaults to 'Automatic' where it will
download and install updates at 3:00 AM. I had this
disabled, but it keeps re-enabling. I might as well get
SP2 installed to get past the battle.

It causes very few problems, see if this is the one you are having:

Yes, you can, don't blame Microsoft for your lack of knowledge.

That article does not relate because the system would not boot up. However,
after performing another system restore on the computer and installing XP
SP2, the system is working fine now.

I have no "lack of knowledge" on this except for keeping the automatic
updates disabled. If I disable it and check it later, the automatic updates
are enabled again. Now it does not matter because I installed XP SP2 and
got around the incompatibility and conflict issues.
