AluriaCacheFile.dat file will not defragment

I am not sure I even have an issue here, but it has my curiosity up.

After defragmenting the PC we noticed one file that would not defragment:
AluriaCacheFile.dat. Some Google-hunting revealed that this apparently
relates to a supposed anti-spyware (Aluria) that is in fact spyware. Aluria
was supposedly bought by Earthlink in August, 2005. Earthlink is our ISP.

So to my question: does anyone have any notion whether Earthlink installed
this file and if so, why? And most importantly, will it hurt anything to
delete the little bugger?

Create a System Restore point and delete the Aluria software. If this
causes problem, you can undo the deletion on an easy way.

I found the same file that is the Only file that would not defrag in my
Windows XP. I switched to Earthlink in February 2006 and this is the
first defrag since then and the first time this file has shown up as
cannot defrag.

I tried to delete AluriaCacheFile.dat. I got the message that I could
Not delete AluriaCacheFile.dat.

Now I am both curious and unhappy.

I will continue pursuing this issue. If I find anything interesting ,
I will post the info.
