Alternate Navigation Pane?

Is there some sort of UI add-on that will make the Vista navigation pane more
like the Windows XP pane...i.e. more usable? The generic "Favorite Links"
just don't cut it and the tasks are not really contextual enough.

No, but you can try disabling it:

I don't want to disable it...I want it to be usable and helpful -- the way it
is in Windows XP. Using the explorer in Vista is so time wasting with all
the clicking around you have to do; what takes one or two clicks in XP takes
three or 4 in Vista.
