Alternate download for WD definition updates

Hi all. My company has a GP applied on my laptop that won't allow me to
update my Windows Defender definitions (automatic updates are blocked.)
Unfortunately, I'm not in the office for them to apply something manually--is
there a way to simply download an updated definition file and "tell" WD about
it? I have a virtumonde trojan on my machine and I cannot get rid of it
(with spybot S&E or AdAware) and WD has "cleaned" it a few times but it's
back, and I want to try again with updated definitions.

I've tried hacking the local group policy file on my machine, but that isn't
working...any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sometimes a manual removal with specialized tools is more effective with
this particular malware than a generalized anti-spyware removal tool, see
this site for removal directions if your new WD definitions don't do the
job for you:

One other thing... having outdated Java Runtime Environment releases
installed on your system specifically encourage Virtumunde infections to
take hold. The current version is JRE 1.6.0update2 , earlier versions
should generally be manually removed, retaining only the latest version
unless there are problems getting specific Java sites that still require
older versions of the JRE installed to run .
