Fortunately your attitude as displayed in this post is not the enduring
one I expect from the Linux community as it starts to become mainstream.
I explained the "why?" earlier.
You've decided to adopt the usual "If it's not available in Linux,
nobody should need it!" attitude of current Linux afficionados that
lasts just until the function is 'discovered' in the latest release of
their favorite distro.
It's similar to the prevailing "Fakeraid" pseudo putdown. Fine! Have a
nice day!
Nope that's not my attitude. I honestly couldn't tell you if there is
something out there that does what you want. I wouldn't even know that
windows media player does it. If there is a feature that's lacking, I
generally hope that it'll be added...not that nobody should need it.
I just simply don't like your attitude. For one, why are you even looking
for help regarding Linux in a Windows newsgroup?
Why don't you take your questions over to alt.os.linux.ubuntu? There are
far more people there who are capable of helping you than in a Vista NG.
If you do however, I do suggest that you refrain from statements such as
"It'll be somewhat strange that the best Linux solution I can find is a
paid-for emulated Windows application!". Statement's like that are about
as polite as you knocking at my door and then throwing a pile of steaming
dog shit into my doorway as I open the door. And you're going to get
treated accordingly for making them.
If you've looked at my response to Michael's post, you'll see I've posted
a link with various media players available for you.
If any of those meet your needs and how well they do, I honestly can't
tell you. I don't know over half the players on that list.
