Altnet comes bundled with Kazaa, and this can MSAS handle.
If you running Kazaa move your "My shared folder" to a
different outside Kazaa.

Uninstall "p2p networking" within add/remove programs,
also comes bundled with Kazaa.

Also download these tools:

- Download/Install CCleaner, www.ccleaner.com, removes
all temporarily junk

- Download/Install Lavasofts Adaware, also removes
tracking cookies.

All scans then in safe mode, press F8 during reboot.

- Start CCleaner and remove all temporarily junk.

- Choose fullscan with all options checked within MSAS and
scan. Let MSAS remove Altnet and Kazaa.

- Also choose fullscan within Adaware

- Restart

Thanks Ron. Here's hoping they can handle this permissions issue--there are
several bugs using various permissions tricks that Microsoft Antispyware
can't handle at all, at this point.

Just worked with a guy who had a problem with AntiSpy
wrapping around the axle when it got to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Toolbar\Files\APP

I told him to delete the Toolbar key but it wouldn't go so
we tried the permission changes from the altnet removal
instructions and that fixed the problem with AntiSpy and
if I can believe him also got rid of nail. He never sent
me a new HijackThis log so I can't be sure but that was
the impression I got.

Hmm - I didn't have any permissions issues with nail--in fact, nail.exe was
one of the easier parts of the puzzle to get rid of--I just copied con: over
it and hit F7 and marked it read only.
