All my files in My Documents are deleted!

Ok, for some reason after I booted my computer, I noticed that almost
all of my shortcuts and files were missing from my desktop. I searched
for my files but I couldn't find them. But now I noticed that
everything that was missing resided in my C:\Documents and
Settings\Compaq_Owner, and the rest of the stuff in my C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users are safe. All that is left in the Compaq_Owner
folder are folders, but the files are gone.
Is there a way to get back my files from this loss?

might be able to recver by using the restore feature. maybe youll hav a
restore point from a day or so ago....

I tried just tried that, but it only recovers the shortcuts on my
desktop, not my files. Thanks, at least you got the shortcuts back.

Oh yeah, I also tried other restoration points farther back, but they
wouldn't work.

Just a thought....perhaps you accidently dragged them into another
folder somewhere else. Have you tried doing a search for any of the
known filenames from the c:\ ??

I doubt I moved only my files to another folder, but I performed the
search anyway, and unluckily there weren't any results on the five
files I remembered the filename of. Thanks for trying Trevor.
Anyways, I wonder how they suddenly got deleted, and they all happened
to be in my Compaq_Owner folder.
