All In Wonder 2006 Edition-- AGP driver help

T

Tom C

I purchased the All In Wonder 2006 256 meg video card and tuner. I noticed
that if I don't have an Intel Processor I need to obtain and install the
latest AGP Drivers and this is where i get confused.
I have an "Athlon SY-K7V Dragon Plus" VIA KT266A. I have updated the drivers
for my mother board. When I boot up it says "K7VXA-2BA7", but I have no clue
if the AGP drivers are updated.
I looked in my Device Manger and I have "VIA CPU to AGP Controller" but I
do not know if the drivers are the latest.
Can someone tell me if there is a way to check for the latest AGP drivers or
can someone tell me how to get the latest drivers.
The manual said to go to www.viaarena.com but I got lost as to what I was
looking for. I didnt see anything that said AGP drivers.
The manual said using the wrong drivers could result in a blank screen, and
I don't need that.
Thanks for any and all help...Tom

It says you can identify the AGP driver in the Device Manager. Have you
looked and what did you see?

All it said was "VIA CPU to AGP Controller" it didnt tell what version the
drivers were. I had updated the motherboard drivers awhile back, and the
version i have now for the mother board is "K7VXA-2BA7, but i am not sure
the AGP drivers are updated....

I have Intel so I was not concerned but I did look and see this as
confusing. I would say to go ahead with the install with a restore point and
see what happens.

Good luck and post back.

Via uses unified drivers like everyone else. Just download the whole
chipset package and install it. It will update everything MB related
including you AGP drivers.

Am I Batman or Superman? I'm so confused.

I checked the date on the AGP driver that is installed, and it says 7/1/05.
I updated the MB drivers since then. I guess i ned to keep looking. Thanks
for your help, i just need to see if there are any newer drivers than July
2005...thanks again....tom

You boot to safe mode and uninstall. I would have done this a long time ago
but I guess I like to live dangerously ;)

I will be wondering how you like the card. I just installed on in a system
here and would like your opinion.

Good Luck

I have been away from my computer for a few days, and just got back to it
yesterday. I ended up finding the drivers I need. I needed the 4 in 1 chip
set and got them installed and everything else went smooth. I am kinda new
at this and didnt want to mess up anything so I done some further reading
and looking around and found the drivers I need.
Anyway from what I can tell so far it seems to be a good card for the money.
I have my Direct TV going through it and it seemed to work ok. However when
I went into the settings I could not change the channels using the tuner on
the card. Channel 3 was the only channel on the card tuner that would work.
As long as it was on 3 i could see anything that was on the TV as long as I
changed the channel with the Direct Tv remote. I hope that made since.
Anyway, I turned it on a few minutes ago and my sound is all static. I am
hoping it is a loose connections some place, but that may have to until
tomorrow.
I will more than likely post other questions and comments as I get further
along with my card. Thanks for your time and help....Tom

That's how it will and should work. Like when I use my cable box I have it
set on channel 3 but if I connect directly to the cable I can use the
internal tuner up to a certain channel number that is. Better to use the box
or Direct TV like you have it now. Glad to learn you have things set up.

Thanks again for the reply. I have things set up, but I am beginning to
think the card is to much for my system. I am trying through the process of
elimination to see if that is indeed the case. Everything is working, it
just seemed to slow my computers down. I went ack to a restore point and it
seems to be working ok now.
I looked and I have the drivers still installed and I am thinking that if
there is a problem it may be with the small utilities that are bundles with
the card. The TV, and File viewer. I will know for sure in a little whil, as
I am going to run the initialization wizrd and see what happens. thanks
again for your reply and stay tuned...lol.....tom

If I remember correctly I had some problems getting it to boot to the
monitor I had plugged in. It would seem to boot to an empty cable number 2.
I would have to shut down and chase the cable around to find the right one.
This was also complicated due to the presence of a PCI ATI 9250 dual monitor
card which already had drivers installed of it's own. Everything works great
now as long as I have it set up right for the MMC to work. There will be
errors if I reconfigure for other dual monitor purposes. I don't usually
have it set up for watching TV as I use this system for multi real time 4
video input to secondary at different res than primary monitor.

I uninstalled the Mulitcenter for the ATI card. I ran all kinds of spyware
programs and removed some things. I didnt remover the ATI drivers, just the
multimedia center.
After i ran and removed all the spyware garbage and installed the
Multicenter again everything seems to be working ok, at least for the
moment. Thanks for all your help...tom
