Alignment in Microsoft Works vs. Word

Hi all,
I wasn't exactly sure where to put this, but here goes. I'm opening Word
files (2003) in Microsoft Works, with the same page setup for both--letter
size paper with 1-inch margins all around. For some reason, though, the text
is laid out differently in the two formats, like my computer thinks the Works
format is wider, so it doesn't take up as many lines. I need to keep the
number of lines the same and I don't want to need to go through my whole
document and fix it if I don't have to. Does anyone know why the text layout
seems to be different?
Thanks!

The way in which Word lays out a document is based upon the printer that is
active under the File>Print dialog. Works is probably not as specific.

That is probably why it changes. As to what you can do about it, you can
try making sure that the same printer is being used in both applications.
Otherwise, just stick to one application.

Of course, if the different applications are using different fonts.....
