Alerts fly off screen

I use a 768x1024 screen (tablet PC in portrait mode) and
alerts fly up the right side of the screen and never go
away, sucking up 10 megs of RAM each time and requiring me
to go to task manager to kill them. Using the latest beta
and XP SP2

This is a known issue in the beta 1 released, a patch will be made available
before the 31st of July to resolve this issue.

From Steve Dodson:
I would say that the expiration issue will be resolved
fairly soon as we
will push forward the timebomb. We are in the final test
pass on the next
release and as soon as we have finished the testing, it
will be broadly
announced. The next version should put a dent in reducing
the following
major issues:

1) July 31 Timebomb
2) LSP breaking.
3) Flying toasts when start bar is docked on the side.
