AIW 8500V capture driver & sync problems

I recently installed the AIW 8500DV card. When running the PC Check under
the ATI Multemedia Center Configuration menu it says that "WDM devices are
not listed in registry). When clicking the help "?" it says to "Get the
capture drivers and the recommended ATI display driver from the ATI website"
I have installed version 7.6 which came with it, but which driver version do
I need to get from the website to correct my problem.

Capturing seems to work (only tried TV so far), but when playing back there
is a synchronization problem with the video and audio.
Can anyone help with these issues. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This card is best used with Catalyst 2.1 and MMC 7.7. Go to ATI web site and
download them. Anything newer or older won't help you.

Nah...I run my 8500DV with DX9B, Omega 2.5.04 (cat 3.10) MMC 8.8 and the
latest WDM drivers. Everything works perfectly; no dropped frames, no
complaints. With 7.7, you can't encode interlaced, and I really feel
encoding de-interlace is a serious detriment to the capture.

the sound sync issue may well be related to your soundcard: if the clock on
the soundcard has more than a couple of percent inaccuracy/variation, then
sync will be a problem. either upgrade your soundcard to one with a more
modern chip, or (if using 'onboard' sound), install a good soundcard.

Thanks Gordon and everyone else here at the ATI videocard newsgroup.
I have downloaded the WDM capture driver (6.13.10.6125) & display driver
(6.13.10.6094). Installed them in the correct order and it still says that
the driver is not listed in the registry (after running the PC Check).

Will newer versions (ie. Catalyst 3.1 or newer) do any better than what I
currently have? I don't want to waste time downloading, uninstalling,
reinstalling, etc. these things if there will be no improvements.

Nevertheless, these drivers do allow the TV to start up automatically when
the program is closed (another problem that I had). The sync problem seems
to have gone away as well. I burned a quick VCD and the sync seems fine on
a regular TV. I also ran the same file through Media Player 9 from the hard
drive and all seems OK. Thanks again.
