Ai Booster -- what is it?

My new P4P800-E Deluxe CD has a utility called Ai Booster, but nowhere (that
I've found) does it say what that does. Can someone help?

I've installed ASUS Probe. Any reason not to let it run at startup and just
stay in the background?

How about ASUS Update? Is that a reliable way to flash the BIOS if new
updates become available?

know what the software on the CD does. I guess I can just load it and find
out.

accurate 1MHz increments adjustment up to 400MHz (1600MHz FSB).

I'd be tempted to give it a miss when it says something like that

Get rid of Asus update.

The general consensus is that flashing your bios in windows is suicide.

Automatically flashing a bios just because you can is beyond sense.
Every time you flash the bios you run a risk - usually small if you use the
DOS based flash program, read the instructions, have a good reason, and know
what your doing. But if you can't say yes to all those preceeding points you
*do* risk a dead motherboard.

Sound like scare mongering? It is - on purpose. If you trash your bios, then
you *will* sooner or later either have a dead motherboard or you *will* have
to learn a lot very quickly and probably spend some money too.

When you have a good reason to upgrade your bios, post back here and someone
is bound to help.

My intuition told me just what you said. I have not, and will not, load
ASUS Update. Further, I won't touch the BIOS until there is a need. So
far, the system is running perfectly.

Another point. If you try any overclocking experiments,
and on POST, the computer claims the BIOS is corrupted - it is
not. Instead, try the "clear the CMOS" procedure, with the
computer unplugged for safety. Clearing the CMOS returns the
computer to default settings, and it is the default settings
that will allow the processor to be able to read the flash
chip without finding it corrupted. The Asus code isn't very
good at handling overclocking errors.

I've only tried one overclocking experiment on my P4C800-E,
and the nuisance of clearing the CMOS will probably prevent
me from trying another (Having to redo my BIOS settings
from memory, is a lot of work for one experiment.)

So, if you ever do get a message that the BIOS is corrupted,
it isn't necessarily true.

No plans here to overclock. My new system is plenty fast as is.

I noticed the "clear CMOS" section in the manual and will remember it's
there, just in case.
