AGP as PCI??? Uck

Greerings,

My computer is as follows:

PIII1000Mhz, 512MB Ram, AGP GeForce FX 5500 256MB, WinXP Pro SP1, all
updates applied...

After trying to run the Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 demo, I noticed it runs at
about 1 FPS (my specs are half-way between the minimum and recommended for
CPU speed, and above the recommended for the GPU/RAM requirements).

After poking around, I noticed that my display driver lists as a PCI device
but I'm positive it is an AGP card beyond any doubts, it cannot possibly be
a PCI card.

That said, I updated all the drivers including my MOBO drivers and such and
it still lists as a PCI and gives the same performance. I'm not sure what I
can do or if there are other things to tweak (including the BIOS, but I
don't know what to look for in the BIOS).

Here is a snapshot:

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Shawn

That's normal for Windows. It doesn't like to say "AGP" for some reason. As
long as your driver reports AGP then you are ok.

If RCT3 is the only game that is giving you this 1 FPS issue, then more than
likely it is a game bug.

I don't play other games. I mostly use it for development and apart from
the RCT franchise, I usually keep games off my machine so I'm not
particularily sure if this is an isolated issue.

Thanks,

If you are unsure, but don't want to open the case, you can check with
Aida32:

Though in your case I'm pretty sure that it's the relatively slow CPU,
especially for more graphics-intensive games like RTC3. You could try
the Omega drivers for Nvidia and install them im performance mode.
They'll be a bit better than the official drivers:
