AGP 8x and XP

mr_allroy

I have a GFX 5700 with an 8x agp mobo. After installing
drivers, i like to run a little app called NV Hardpage.
This allows me to turn on the "coolbits" tweak panel as
well as an AGP information panel.

My question is, in the AGP panel, it tells me that the
hardware, both video card and motherboard are in fact
using 8X AGP, but it reports the OS at only 2X AGP
support. Why is the OS only showing as 2x AGP? Is this
normal for XP Pro and if not, what steps do I need to
take to "tweak" my XP to use 8x AGP?

TIA for any and all suggestions.

Install your motherboard's chipset drivers so as to get the AGP slot
drivers.
