after XP SP2 install PC fails to start again - blue screen

Hello , I just bought a new pc , I installed windows XP home and when I
update with an original Service Pack 2 cd (or even by automatic updates) the
PC doesn't start up again. When arriving at the windows screen (during
startup) I get a blue screen and the only thing that I can do is to format
AGAIN !!!

My pc is :
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ (socket 939)
ASUS EN8800GTS (Geforce 8800 GTS with 6xxMb DDR)
2Gb DDR Ram
Western Digital SATA II Hard drive 160Gb

Can anybody help me because Microsoft won't without me paying them !
Increadible , like I didn't pay enough money for my Windows XP !!! It is a
scandal !

Hoping for an answer other that "don't install SP2" because I need it for
some programs.

Alain.

I would go to Microsoft Update and install all updates except SP2 - reboot
then update with SP2.
