After XP reinstall I lost old user icons

Hi
I've reinstalled XP after a registry problem.
It works fine now but only with New Users.

I have all the Old User account info under Docs and Settings/old user (it
wasn't deleted on install)
but cant log onto it. Cant get a user Icon for it

I tried generating a 'new user'= 'old user' but it just generated a copy
which was also empty.
Can I generate a log on icon for my old user account??
- Id like to see my email without cutting and pasting into a new account
