After uninstalling NERO software no longer sees my DVD drives as DVD drives

The other obvious thing to try, which may also qualify as been there done
that, would be to use XP's system restore to roll back to a point where the
drives were properly identified. Then you could run Ahead's Nero removal
tool to scrub away the offending files.

If that doesn't work, I'd do a search-and-destroy mission in Windows and in
the registry for anything that says "Nero," followed by a repair or
reinstall of XP.

If the hardware worked and was properly identified before, it should work
again.

I am confused.
I installed the retail Nero 5.5 version and nowhere does it make any
reference
to burning data to a DVD, only CD's.
So either Nero 5.5 does not support DVD's or I am missing something.

Ed, go to Ahead Website & download your Nero 5.5.10.35 patch (the one I'm
using)... it has what you're missing & it's free of charge!! (of course, you
must have previously registered the Nero 5.5 you bought)
