Are you sure this isn't an error at the web server?

Hi Peter,

I have seen the exact same on every install of Vista with SP1 so far.
Nothing appears to be malfunctioning.

I have also had the same error in every single install of Server 2008 RTM.
Again, nothing appears to be "wrong". Clicking the link in Event Viewer
leads to a page where the remedy appears to be a reinstall of the OS.

At this point in time I have given up on finding exactly why this error
keeps appearing. Another clean install of Server 2008 or Vista with SP1 and
the error comes back every time.

I get this error too, I think it's something to do with Vista SP1 using
Server 2008 codebase. It's nothing to worry about I'm sure.

Hello,
You can safely ignore the error message unless you are on a domain.
It's simply reporting it cannot locate kerberos, which would require a
domain.
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

Hello,
There is an article published but it really doesn't state much more than I
did.
949213 Event ID 15016 appears in the System log after you install Windows
Server 2008 on a non-domain controller or after you install Windows Vista
SP1 in a workgroup
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;949213

Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]
