I am having problems with popups and i know where they are coming from
because whenever an ad comes up i bring up windows task manager and right the
ad and click "go to process" and it takes me to this process called CxPls.exe
or AutoUpdate.exe and whenever i run mcafee to get rid of them they either
come back or i can delete a certain one called CxtPls.dll any help would
be very appreciated

Go through the following malware removal steps systematically, doing
everything with updated tools in Safe Mode:

Download, install, update and run all of the following.

Ad-Aware
http://www.pcbutts1.com/downloads/aawsepersonal.exe

Spybot search and destroy
http://www.pcbutts1.com/downloads/spybotsd14.exe

Ewido Security Suite Trial version
http://www.pcbutts1.com/downloads/ewidosetup.exe

Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta1)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en

If none of the above fixes the issue then download Hijack this, run it, save
a copy of the log file and cut and paste it back here to this group so that
I can analyze it.

Just out of curiousity, why should people download the files from you when
you can't be guaranteed to have the most up-to-date installers? Why not
point the user to the actual download sites at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/,
http://security.kolla.de/, http://www.ewido.net/ and
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn? Not that Joe.domain is any more
'trustable' than blow.domain, but, when I see you linking to other peoples
tools that you host on your own website, I think two things:

1) What has he done to the tools?
2) Is he hosting the current version of the tool?

(ok, I also think 'Do the other companies know that he is hosting their
programs?')

There are hundreds of sites that host these files, who's to say they are
updated. I use these tools everyday and update them when a newer version
comes out. It is what I do for a living. I don't recommend anything let
alone post it on my site if I have not tested it. I just changed those links
last month to point to my site because I know my version is up to date. I
see too many times peoples hjt logs with them using the wrong version or
people saying Spybot 1.3. If they get it from me then I know they have the
current version. Why would I give them outdated software if I am trying to
help them fix their system. The only reason MSAS points to MS is because
that is still beta and constantly changing. As far as them knowing I have it
on my site yes they do, check it out if you doubt me, and I will soon be an
official mirror for Ad-Aware.
