advice needed on new mb

I have been considering getting a new mb specifically a dual core cpu ASUS
P4V8X-MX Socket 478

The price is really reasonable around $50 bucks just for the MB, I was
wondering if anyone
had purchased this board and was willing to talk about their
experience with it.
or if you could recommend a better dual core mb I like ASUS I've had
previous experience
with them, my current board is ASUS.

This motherboard does not take an Intel "Core Duo" processor
but is capable of hyper-threading with the right CPU. The
CPU's are Socket 478 Pentium 4 Prescotts and Celerons. Check
on their availability. Otherwise, it is an OK but somewhat
dated motherboard, but looks suitable for general purpose use.

Thanks much for the hyperlink, I do shop at newegg, I wasn't aware the mb I
was looking at was dated
but I appreciate the info, I'm not up to date on the sata drives, but am
looking into it, is a good configuration
to leave the os on an IDE drive and set up three sata drives as a raid? as
I understand it today, xp doesn't contain sata
drivers, and they must be installed as a seperate issue?

I also see that high capacity SATA drives are in low supply and expensive, I
can't imagine putting in a 3G drive for data, when there
are multiple low priced high capacity ATA drives, even if the mb supports
raid 0/1 with SATA.
I think I'll stick with ATA for awhile. till the new tech catches up.

also in this same vein which is the better source to get a best quality
video signal, use the VGA port or the Svideo port to my monitor
I recently purchased a new 17" monitor and WOW what a difference in viewing,
my old one was a dull and details were hard to see.
