Advanced changing of "Views" in folders, XP pro

hi everyone...

I'm banging my head here, what I want to do is keep all of the folders
within "My Pictures" as "Thumbnail" view - but the rest of my folders
I want to be set as "Details" view - I can't seem to come to a middle
ground!

If I set the default as "Details" and then apply to all folders, I end
up with *every* folder set as details, including "My Pictures" - and
since I can't "Customize" that folder, and don't want to have to go
through 100s of sub-folders, changing their view type, I want to find
a way to set "My Pictures" to default, and leave everything else as
"Details", changing as I go with certain folders (such as Movies and
Video to Thumbnail, etc.)

I really, really need to figure this out, it's been bugging me for
YEARS, and I've finally reached the breaking point where I have to
post a message!!! :)

Thanks in advance, everyone!

Nick

Hi Nick,

Try: Resetting all to default (Reset all folders). Then customize them the
way you and make sure under View: Remember folders view settings is
checked.

Tip:

Windows remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some
settings aren't retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding
this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Kelly,

Done, done and done. THe problem is that the "Apply to subfolders"
ONLY works for the first level. I can save the look of each folder,
but I don't want to have to go into each and every folder on my
computer to do so. Honestly, I would like everything other than my
MP3 and Movies/Video and My Pictures folders to be "Details", but
there are too many sub-folders for me to do anything with! :(

I've already increased folder view settings and the like...

Help! :(
