Adult oriented pop-up

B

Bill Carlson

One of our Win XP workstations has an adult pop-up appear approximately
every 30 min.
the properties on the window:
http://www.adshooter.com/pop_shooter/ads/ad12_files/axp...jpg.

in searching google, we unchecked the Enable third-party browser extensions
and restarted; ran msconfig and unchecked any suspicious start-up programs,
restarted; installed Ad-aware 6.0, deleting found objects, restarted.

Pop-up continues to display - doesn't appear that Internet Explorer needs to
be open. Current Ad-aware scan showing ' 0 New objects'

We are running Win2000 Server, current patches installed, all workstations
(7) are identical Dell Optiplex GX260 running Win XP, Internet Explorer
6.0.2800. This workstation is the only one exhibiting this behavior.
Workstations share a dsl connection. We run Norton Anti-virus Corporate
Edition from the server.

As always, help is much appreciated,

Bill Carlson

If Ad-aware missed it, try Hijack This.

Go to:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location: Spyware and Hijackware Removal Support.
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/index.php?s=8a236cdf61469fbad3bddbe810be0374&act=SF&f=11

Sign in, then copy and paste both files in your message.

Removing Adshooter

Hi Mike,

I saw the uninstaller yesterday, safe? Or, more trouble? I'm thinking the
latter.
