Adobe reader won't function

C

confused

It appears that ever since I downloaded IE 6 sp1, Adobe
reader won't open and therefore cannot download pdf
files. When I try to use adobe, the adobe copyright page
appears, then the hard drive chatters endlessly and
nothing happens. Then when any window is opened (such as
the start menu)only the part of the window that falls in
the previous adobe window frame appears. Then I usually
have to end windows explorer and restart the computer to
get rid of it. Adobe won't open even when I'm not on the
web but it all started when I downloaded sp1 (but perhaps
that's just a red herring). I removed Adobe and re-
installed it twice already with no help. I noticed with
one install it installed it to temp folder but the next
time I installed it under programs in the adobe folder
and still not working. Is this a problem with IE 6 sp1
and if so, any ideas how to fix it. Already worked my
way through most of the troubleshooting guideline on
adobe.

Check these out.
Also others have suggested to install the new reader direct from Adobe's
site.
