Adobe flash won't install

I tried installing MS Money 2005. Vista advised me that I needed to install
Flash player 9.

I followed the Flash download links, hit the download button and waited for
the Flash animation to complete which would indicate its installed ok.
Internet Explorer doesn't do anything, it just waits.

I set my security level to low, just in case but this made no difference.

I'm using the 32bit IE, not 64bit, which doesn't support Flash yet.

Is there an installer I can download and run rather than doing the install
through the Adobe webpage, which is painfully slow anyway.

Thanks for any advice.
Regards
Mike

Check 'Internet Option' >security>custom level
(scroll down to activeX part) make sure that permissions
for activeX are marked as 'allow' or 'prompt'.
Be careful not to allow unsigned activeX, etc; to run.
I had the same trouble and had to change some
of these settings. Use common sense in this section !

When you click on download, you should get a yellow
ribbon asking your permission to download activeX !
Without this permission, your download will just sit there.

best of luck

happens !

Hi Lonewolf,

Thanks for your suggestions. My ActiveX controls were fine, and even with
the lowest settings Flash wouldn't update through the Adobe website.

I did some more playing, and noticed that if I turned off proteced mode,
then the Adobe website could download and install the Flash update without
problems. Also, I noticed that any media being streamed from websites would
not play unless protected mode is off - and this was for websites using
Windows Media Player.

I don't like the idea of leaving protected mode off, but it seems I have
little choice.

Putting those sites in the trusted zone should work, since protected mode is
off, but those websites don't quite work the same - they forget media player
settings every time you return to the site.

Interesting. I'm sure MS don't want protected mode to stop these things from
working normally.

regards
Mike
