ADO lib references

What are differences between the Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects library and
the Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects Recordset library? Is version 2.5 of the
ADO lib the most current version? If not, where can I get the newest
version?

Also, when I create a new Access database, the ADO 2.1 lib is automatically
referenced. What concerns should be addressed when juggling different
versions of the ADO lib? Is the newest version always the best choice?

The ADO recordset library is smaller (includes less stuff)
Patch MS40-003 of Version 2.8 is the current ADO version

The newest version is always best, unless the database
will be installed on a PC that does not have the latest
version.
